Turkey is moving towards becoming a more active player in the global food and beverage market every year. The country gets the power of production from its agricultural production.

SMEs for the food and beverage industry are virtually everywhere in Turkey. Samsun is one of the provinces where food and beverage manufacturing enterprises are clustered. The development of the food industry based on agriculture and the export of these products are of great importance for the province. Established in 2007, Samsun Food Specialized OIZ, is one of Turkey's first specialized food OIZs.

Flour, hazelnut, poultry, chick and delicatessen products, feed, fish meal, fish flour, fish oil, paddy, rice, halva, confectionery, jam, dairy products and tomato paste are produced in the food sector of Samsun province.

  • The city centre has flour, halva, confectionery, jam, pulses, food, fish processing facilities,
  • Havza District has flour factories, dairies,
  • Bafra District has flour, rice, tomato paste, pulses, food processing facilities,
  • Çarşamba and Terme have nuts breaking, rice facilities, and
  • Yakakent District has fish processing facilities.

In Turkey, Samsun is the second largest province in terms of hazelnut and paddy production. In Samsun, there are no licensed warehouses where hazelnut and paddy can be stored. The establishment of licensed warehouses for these crops in Samsun can be seen as a good opportunity.
